Battlefield: Bad Company 2

When you think of the Battlefield franchise PC gaming comes to mind, but not just any kind of PC gaming, it is multiplayer gaming.  Originally christened back in 2002, the brand has only recently ventured into the console realm, most prominently with their “Bad Company” brand in 2008.  With 2010 coming to a close, DICE seemed to think that it was about time they bridged one of the last chasms standing in the way of shooter supremacy: the portable front.  Has EA managed to knock the first person shooter genre out of the park on their first try, or do they end up firing blanks?

NBA 2k12 / NBA Jam

Basketball games have had a fairly checkered history on the iOS.  With the notable exception of the stellar NBA Jam, very few games have managed to live up to the expectations of the gaming masses.  2K Sports look to put these issues in the past with their newest portable hardwood companion, NBA 2K12.  Luckily for them, when the bar is low enough to trip over, a game should have no problem standing tall – right?

Shift 2 Unleashed

The Need for Speed brand generally shies away from realism. In recent years though, EA created the Shift sub-brand, allowing for a more realistic based racer, leaving all the cop chases and takedowns to its more arcadey cousins of Undercover and Hot Pursuit.

We’ve already had Hot Pursuit this year, and it surprised us with its intense speed and crazy cop chases. Now though, Shift is back with Shift 2: Unleashed, and it’s time for a reality check.

The third Transformers movie has hit the cinemas recently and has received rather mixed reviews from what I’ve heard. Having not had a chance to catch the movie myself I can’t really comment. However, I can bring a full review of the accompanying iOS game, Tranformers: Dark of the Moon.

Real Football 2012

Gameloft has just released their newest freemium football title (the other kind of football) for Android and it’s being received in the Market with mixed reviews. There’s no denying the visuals are impressive, but some players are left feeling jipped after Gameloft’s “Real Football 2012″ is almost requiring players to fork over their cash in order to remain competitive. The game implements some sort of stamina system that once exhausted, will need to be refilled through an in-app purchase if players hope to stand a fighting chance in future matches.
